Recruitment Tavern Guide

Recruitment Tavern

UPDATE: This no longer will work as inviting friends seems to be impossible since the update to Facebook API v2

The Recruitment Tavern has several dragons you can earn by inviting your friends. With Dragon City having been out for years, there aren’t many people you can invite who haven’t already tried the game. Everyone either already plays the game, ignores it, or has stopped playing it for whatever reason.

This doesn’t matter in regards to the Recruitment Tavern though. People who have uninstalled the app will count if they reinstall it, and the same player can count for many, many people. This makes getting the Recruitment Tavern dragons very easy. You can pick them all up, and keep an extra copy in your Storage “Egg Collection”!

How to Find People to Recruit

The Dragon City community is a thriving one if you know where to look. There are Facebook groups with thousands of members. Some of whom take the time to remove their app when they aren’t playing so they can be invited by their friends. When they re-install the app, everyone who has invited them will get credit towards the Recruitment Tavern. This works for most (if n ot all) of the quests that require invites to be sent out for quest items. (It doesn’t work for the Egg Breaker though.)

Adding friends is of course beneficial in many other ways, but the best friends to have are ones who consistently post “app off” when they aren’t playing to let others know to invite them. You can find many of these players in the Recruitment Tavern posts. The most active “app on/off” communities I’m aware of are in these groups:

(note: these groups do not accept hackers or spammers, so be considerate and stick to the rules!)

Also, feel free to use the comments here to indicate to other players when you have removed your app so that you can be invited. It’s a way to help out your Dragon City friends, and a great way to get new friends to add you!

Dragons in Facebook Recruitment Tavern

  • Saturn: An easy way to get the Light element early so you can start breeding Light element Hybrids long before you could buy Archangel. A good fighter to have early on, but since you will face a lot of Flame attacks early it isn’t as good as it would first appear.
  • Troglodyte: A good three element fighter early on, can’t be critical hit until Metal dragons start showing up later on. Will critical hit against a lot of the dragons you will be likely to face as well (Terra, Nature, Sea). You can use him right from the start since all you need is a Terra habitat. Also helpful in breeding early on since it gives you an opportunity to get the Metal element long before you could buy Metal. Main drawback is it’s ugly.
  • Dolphin: Another way to get the Light element early, but not as well rounded a fighter as Saturn.
  • Lightbeam: Still another Light element dragon you can get early, though not as early as the other two. You have to have Electric habitats for this one. Sea attacks are almost as common as Flame attacks, so not a great fighter either.
  • Seahorse: Part of The Gaia Collection. As a level 10 Exclusive, Seahorse can be bred with the right element combinations as long as the parents are both level 10+. (Restriction lifted if one or both of the parents is a Legend)
  • Paradise: Part of The Festive Collection, and was also part of The Colorful Collection (which was removed from the game). As a level 10 Exclusive, Paradise is breedable with parents of level 10+. Still easier to get in the Recruitment Tavern.
  • Great White: Part of The Elder Collection. As a level 10 Exclusive, Great White is breedable! Easier to get in the Recruitment Tavern though.
  • Blue: Part of The Noble Collection. Blue is breedable in level 4+ Breeding Sanctuary, but easier to get from the Recruitment Tavern. A good element mix with decent attacks makes Blue a strong choice for a fighter early on, and useful in many quest fights. Also available in the Facebook version of the Recruitment Tavern.
  • Basilisk: Basilisk may be the best dragon you can get in the Recruitment Tavern. Here’s why … It’s only dragon with the Pure element you can get without Gems early on. It will save you a lot of time and money when getting started on breeding Pure Hybrids, and open up breeding Legends as well. Also, it’s a Category 5 dragon that can fit in a Flame habitat. The elements aren’t great as Flame is the primary (defending) element, but it’s still a decent fighter early on. Basilisk is breedable in the level 8 Breeding Sanctuary, and can be found in the 6th box in the Black Market currently, but it’s much easier to just get from the Recruitment Tavern. Bonus Tip: As a category 5 dragon that is easily available, Basilisk is great for increasing your score in the Global Dragon Master points rankings on mobile versions … just watch out for the hatching time, it’s very long!
  • Legendary: The grand-daddy of them all, Legendary is one of the most iconic dragons in Dragon City. Seems a bit sad that he’s been relegated to the Recruitment Tavern. Watch out for the level requirements (Level 42) on this one. You have to be able to place a Legendary Habitat as well before you can actually get this dragon on the ground and fighting. But once you do, it’s one of the best fighters in the game, and opens up the possibility of breeding any breedable dragon in the game given the wildcard nature of the Legend element. While Legendary is breedable, it’s extremely difficult to get that way … so just select it (and a lot of copies) from the Recruitment Tavern!

Your choices here aren’t as good as in the Facebook Recruitment Tavern, but there’s still some good dragons here. For PC players who would like to get Mobile Recruitment Tavern dragons, check out Bluestacks. It allows you to play Android apps on your PC. It’s not very stable, but works for me.

  • Granite: Part of The Hard Rock Collection. Not breedable or obtainable other ways currently.
  • Wurm: Part of The Elongated Collection. Not breedable or obtainable other ways currently.
  • Lightning: Part of The Noble Collection. A good earner, but less useful with the Dragon Market paying out so well. Not breedable or obtainable other ways currently.
  • Glacial: Part of The Noble Collection. A decent fighter and a great looking dragon. Glacial is breedable in Sanctuary level 4+, but easier to get here if you follow the guide.
  • Chainmail: Part of The Aggresive Collection. Not breedable or obtainable other ways currently.
  • Treasure: Part of The Luxurious Collection. Treasure is a level 15 Exclusive, so can be bred with any combo that contains both Terra and Metal (or Legend replacing either/both) when the parents are both level 15 or greater. Treasure be useful in breeding since 2 of them can give a 100% combo for Armadillo. (As long as at least one parent is less than level 15.)
  • Bone: Not a very useful dragon currently. Not breedable or obtainable in other ways currently.
  • Gargoyle: A 3 element dragon, but with less interesting element combination than the others. Part of The Hard Rock Collection. Gargoyle is breedable in level 3+ Breeding Sanctuary, but easier to get this way.
  • Burning: Burning is breedable in level 1-6 Breeding Sanctuary (perhaps impossible in 7 and 8). It is also in the 4th and 6th boxes of the Black Market currently. Much easier and cheaper to just get it from the Recruitment Tavern!

Are There Any Problems with Removing Your App?

For the purposes here, it’s the Facebook app that is used. Mobile players can still invite friends who use Facebook, so this isn’t a problem. When removing the Facebook app there is no data lost, and no problems with re-installing the app.

Removing the mobile (iOS, Android) app is not recommended. This is because when you remove the app you also remove the association your phone has with your Dragon City account. Uninstalling and then reinstalling the Dragon City mobile apps will generally lead to having to do the tutorial again. It hasn’t though if they have associated that game account with a Facebook account. Their progress is stored, but in relation to their Facebook account. Connecting the app to that Facebook account will allow the progess to be restored in the mobile app as well.

The reason this isn’t recommended is because this can be confusing to players who might assume their account has been reset. Also, the method to associate a newly installed mobile app with a Facebook account is very dangerous. When doing so, the app will ask you which account you wish to continue with, and if you select the new mobile account you will overwrite your progress on the original account, losing it forever!

App Off

Much easier to just remove the Facebook app! Then you can reinstall with a couple clicks once your friends invite you. Your progress will not be in jeopardy of a misclick like it is on mobile apps.
