How the Black Market Works

The Black Market is where you spend Gems to open boxes which contain various dragons. It’s often a cheaper way to get exclusive dragons that would cost many more gems to get via other methods… or dragons that can’t be had any other way.

Of course it can also be a big rip off, as was the case in the Black Market dragons that became Tavern reward dragons shortly after!

The dragons in the boxes are shown on the Black Market list. There are 5 dragons shown, and then another dragon in a Mystery Box. The lists can be changed for 3 gems. You can change the list as many times as you like until the dragon you want is on the list.

Once the dragon you want is on the list, you can open the boxes. You can only accept the prize from one of the boxes. The cost to open the boxes is either 10 or 20 gems depending on which box it is.

Cost to Open a Box

  • First Box: 20 Gems
  • Second Box: 10 Gems
  • Third Box: 10 Gems
  • Fourth Box: 10 Gems
  • Mystery Box: 10 Gems
  • Last Box: 10 Gems

It doesn’t matter which box you click on, all that matters is the number of boxes you’ve opened. The second and third boxes hold the same dragons, so be prepared to open 4 boxes to get them, and you may get it for 10 Gems less if you’re lucky! The exclusive dragon is always in the last box. So if you want to get the exclusive dragon from the Black Market, plan on spending at least 70 gems. Perhaps much more than that as you’ll usually have to change lists at least a few times.

What is in the Mystery Box?

The Mystery Box is always the 5th box you open. So to know the dragons that might be in the Mystery Box, check out the list of dragons in the 5th box.

You can’t know for sure if the dragons you want from that list are in the Mystery Box until you open it. So it’s advisable that you change lists until a dragon you also want is in the 6th box, in case the Mystery Box doesn’t contain a dragon you want! Then you will be able to open the last box.

Why are There Less than 6 Dragons in My List?

If you should have a blank list, or a list with less than 6 dragons (including the Mystery box) it is because of a bug. If you open the boxes you will probably not get the dragon you expect, so change the list or don’t play if you get this bug!
